As a destination, Barbados has so much to offer, you’re always going to wish you had another week. It happens to the best of us. While you may have left home thinking that your tropical vacation would have consisted of lots of beach days on our white sand beaches followed by great dinners and lazy nights. And that is fine, and entirely doable on our lovely island. However, there are many visitors to our shores who find that there are so many things for them to do, that having a hired car is the only way to experience all that they want. Sunshine days are broken into beach time, museum tours, botanical gardens visits, trips into Bridgetown for duty-free shopping, and many more exciting diversions.
Your rental car will also come in handy at night. With the West and South coasts bustling with top restaurants vying for your attention; you will want the freedom to drive to either coast as the mood hits. There are also the added nightlife enticements like nightclubs, bars and the world famous Oistins Bay Gardens a must stop for fresh fish and Caribbean lobster. A typical vacation in Barbados includes at least one Friday night at the Oistins Fish Fry, a night in “The Gap” and an evening on Second Street in Holetown. You also owe it to yourself and your travel companions to take a drive to each coast, to experience the differences in beaches between the tranquil west coast and rougher Atlantic side of the east coast. Or the wild beauty of the north coast versus the popular white sand beaches of the south coast.
